SEC NAMED BJC SUB OF THE YEAR

KNOXVILLE, TN   Safety and Ecology Corporation (SEC) received the Bechtel Jacobs Company (BJC) 2007 Small Business Subcontractor of the Year Award. The award recognized the subcontractor that best demonstrates their commitment to excellence in safe performance of their subcontract and their commitment to responsible corporate citizenship. SEC attended the Annual Socioeconomic Program Awards Luncheon on December 18th in Oak Ridge, TN to receive the award.

“We succeed only if we and our subcontracting partners succeed. Our subcontracting partners play such an integral part in the success or failure of the DOE mission because they have been entrusted in many cases with both critical scope elements and with transitioned workforce,” commented Lori W. Baker, BJC Procurement Manager, in a letter to SEC.

SEC has worked with BJC on various projects since 1998. Currently, SEC’s RADCON Alliance program is supporting the 10 CFR 835 compliant program for BJC in Oak Ridge and supports every BJC project that involves radioactive and hazardous material. SEC RADCON Alliance provides industrial hygiene support for the Accelerated Cleanup Program including emergency response, nuclear safety, and D&D design support. SEC also provides site sampling and monitoring; environmental sampling and monitoring; and laboratory management support and procurement. In addition, SEC provides Quality Assurance, Integrated Safety Management, and Radiation Protection Program implementation support and oversight. The SEC Radcon Alliance was awarded the one of a kind project from BJC in 1998.

The SEC RADCON Alliance has previously been named BJC’s Safety Subcontractor of the Month in 2007. “I am very proud of the SEC RADCON team as this award is a tribute to the hard working, safety focused team that we have working on this complex project,” said Ron Dresen, Chief Operations Officer. “The (BJC) subcontract is a huge part of SEC’s past and future.”

BJC established a program for identifying, judging, selecting and recognizing subcontractors who best demonstrate their commitment to excellence in safe performance of their subcontract and their commitment to responsible corporate citizenship. BJC recognizes companies, both small and large, that set the standard, raise the bar and distinguish themselves from their peers.
