Government Contract Development Initiative Focused On Regional Opportunities in the Southeastern U.S.

Company Opens Program Management Office in Huntsville, AL

ARLINGTON, VA. – August 22, 2008 Safety and Ecology Corporation (“SEC”), has appointed former United States Army Corps of Engineers (“USACE”) Huntsville Center Deputy Commander LTC. David Diehl, Ret., as Federal Program Manager. In this capacity, LTC. Diehl will manage recently launched regional contract initiatives focused on the Southeastern U.S. region for SEC.

With over twenty years of progressive leadership experience and documented success in the United States Army, where he served five years as deputy commander at both the Huntsville Center and Charleston District and four years as a company commander, LTC. Diehl has been responsible for managing and allocating resources of a manpower budget for a workforce of over six hundred personnel. He has focused on life cycle construction project management valued at approximately $1.3 billion and oversaw multiple projects valued at over $60 million in support of U.S. forces in Korea.

“The Colonel is a well rounded, results-oriented professional with the experience required to lead our corporate initiatives in support of Huntsville-based opportunities,” said SEC CEO and HSCC President Christopher Leichtweis. “We are confident in his skills and believe he will be an integral part of the SEC offering–one that provides remediation, demolition, and construction services in support of U.S. federal government and department of defense Base Realignment and Closure (“BRAC”) projects, as well as global missions managed through the Huntsville and regional offices.”

By opening a program management office in Huntsville, Alabama, the company is in a better in the Southeastern U.S. region to potentially gain a substantive portion of the recent increase in new regional government contracting opportunities stemming from the Redstone Arsenal, and the USACE.

“The opening of a Huntsville office is a strategic step we are taking to proactively respond to potential opportunities present in the area,” said former Maryland Congressman and HSCC Chairman C. Thomas McMillen. “The development of this program will strengthen our position in the environmental remediation market, and appointing a decorated military leader of the Colonel’s stature as head of this initiative is critical in executing our plan effectively.”

Lieutenant Colonel David A. Diehl is was the deputy commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineer, Engineering Support Center, Huntsville, Alabama. Lt. Col. Diehl graduated from the West Virginia University with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. He also holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina. He was commissioned through the Reserve Officer Training Corps in 1986. His awards and decorations include Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), Army Commendation Medal (3 awards), Humanitarian Service Medal, and Army Occupation Medal. He is also a recipient of the Army Engineer Association’s Bronze DeFleury Medal.
