SEC LIMITED SUPPORTS LONDON’S OLYMPIC DREAM

NEWCASTLE, UK   SEC Limited is providing radiological monitoring support to the London Olympic 2012 site remediation contractor Morrison plc. The Olympic Park is situated in an area of redundant industrial and wastelands in Stratford East London. The whole area is earmarked for billions of dollars of regeneration leaving a legacy of housing, commercial and leisure facilities in a deprived area of London. Before this can start, the legacy of contamination is required to be cleaned up. This includes a wide variety of industrial contaminants, including Thorium, plus an area used for anti aircraft batteries during the Second World War which has levels of radium contamination. Such is the importance and complexity of the project that all the premium contractors and consultancies are engaged in ensuring the clean up is carried out to exacting standards.

SEC Limited is providing Radiological Protection Advice and Health Physics monitors to support the various site investigation works taking place in areas of suspected radiological contamination. SEC has successfully supported the monitoring of numerous boreholes working closely with the contractors teams. SEC is also interpreting and providing reports on the findings of its monitoring ensuring that appropriate action is followed to secure the safe clean-up of the site for future generations of Londoners.
