ARS/SEC AWARDED FEMA CONTRACT
Disaster Relief Program for Katrina Victims
KNOXVILLE, TENN A team comprised of Safety and Ecology Corporation (SEC) and American Radiation Services (ARS) was awarded a contract with FEMA to support the disaster recovery efforts on the gulf coast and specifically maintenance of travel trailers and manufactured homes where disaster victims have been living. The ARS team has been given a territory of close to 15,000 square miles in south east portion of Louisiana.
FEMA was authorized pursuant to the Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act to provide assistance to disaster victims under a Presidential declaration of disaster and emergency. This contract facilitates the implementation of the Individual Assistance (IA) program by providing technical assistance related to maintenance and deactivation of temporary housing units (manufactured homes, travel trailers, and other types of prefabricated housing determined by FEMA).
Trained and certified maintenance technicians perform monthly maintenance inspections of each home. The dispatch operations center, takes incoming repair calls from the occupants and maintenance technician is dispatched to the occupant’s home prepared with a vehicle of stocked tools and basic parts to remedy the occupants repair needs.
