SEC TEAM AWARDED WSRC TANK 16 PROJECT
Phase I - Off-site Demonstration of Waste Removal
KNOXVILLE, TENN On February 20, 2007, The SEC team was awarded a contract by Washington Savannah River Company (WSRC) for tank remediation including three phases: Phase 1- off-site demonstration; Phase 2- design and onsite demonstration and removal, Phase 3- sizing and transfer operations.
SEC was awarded Phase I which will include performing off-site demonstration of waste removal, sizing, and transfer of material and configuration similar to the Tank 16 annulus at Savannah River Site. SEC’s removal technique involved utilization of a robotic arm and robotic crawlers. SEC’s screening/sizing technique involved screening and a pulverizer and transferring method uses a vacuum.
The project team includes SEC, SA Robotics and ARS, International.
